A Random Collection of Thoughts

December 14th, 2006 · 1 Comment

I’m feeling kind of pooped tonight so I’m not going to post much but here’s a few random thoughts:

Rayna had green beans, Chef Boyardy cheeseburger pasta, mandarin oranges, and milk for supper. Man, does she dig mandaran oranges.  I think she’d eat nothing but those oranges if we let her.  She ate everything pretty well and made quite a mess. She has four teeth poking through on top now. None of them are all the way through but I’m glad they finally broke out. She seems to feel a little better now.

Lamar Hunt passed away last night. For those of you not into such things, Hunt was the owner of Kansas City Chiefs football team. As a big Chiefs fan, I was sad to hear of the loss but every professional football fan should feel a little something. Hunt was instrumental in creating the American Football League and leading it into a merger with the NFL in 1966. It was Hunt who came up with the name “Super Bowl” for the national championship game.

My dad was a huge football fan. As a kid, he was a star player and grew up to be a coach before moving on into school administration. I was never much into sports as a kid, being the stereotypical fat kid–awkward and shy. It was always a source of some tension between us although, in retrospect, I think I overreacted to it at the time. It was only after Dad passed away in 1994 that I became a football fan. I’ve always regretted that didn’t happen sooner so that we might have enjoyed it together.

Anyway, I live in Minnesota now but I’m still a Chiefs fan. This hasn’t been such a great year for the team but I cheer for them nonetheless. We’ll get ’em next year.

I found your new site. I’ve been watching the videos and laughing out loud at Rayna’s loud squeals. She is so precious. Let her have your camera strap if she wants it:)
