What’s next for Democrats?

November 18th, 2006 · 1 Comment

A nice quote from the Democratic Leadership Council:

“Democrats must avoid the temptation to follow up the electoral repudiation of the Bush-Rove polarization strategy with their own version of the same thing. The 2006 results not only showed an energized Democratic base but a decisive victory among independent and moderate voters who want real-world results from their government and from both parties, not just a choice between two noise machines.”

Well put. If the Democrats can go beyond their identity as the “Oppose Bush” party and become the “Common Sense” party, I think they will be well positioned for 2008 and beyond. Let’s learn from the Republicans’ mistakes rather than repeat them.

“Let’s learn from the Republicans’ mistakes rather than repeat them.”

From your pen to God’s ears. Don’t see it happening though. Whoever is in has to play to the base and kowtow to the corporations.
